Minkey Hockey starts back 1 May @ Deakin Oval...

Welcome to a new season of winter Minkey Hockey with the Old Canberrans Hockey Club.  The season will run during terms 2 & 3 on Saturday mornings from 10am to 11am, starting this Saturday.

We have had a great response so far from junior players and the senior season is off to a great start as well. Continue to spread the word to friends and family as there is still time to register new players for the 2010 season. We can organise for friends to play with you in your team, experiences or never played before, so hurry and have them register!

Minkey Rules of the Game

Minkey rules are designed to be flexible, it is a learning experience as our Minkeys learn the basic skills, stay safe and have some fun! Please explain these rules to your children!

Players cannot:

• Kick the ball
• Play the ball with the rounded side of the stick
• Lift their stick above their waist
• Hit anyone else's stick with their own
• Raise the ball above knee height
• Intentionally use their body to stop another player getting to the ball
• Stand within 3 metres of the ball when a free hit is being taken
• Score a goal unless they are within their opponents defensive zone
• Intentionally hit the ball over their own backline

Body contact is not permitted. For any breach of these rules, a free will be awarded to the non-offending team, the push is taken close to the spot where the offence occurs.
